When Smuggling Sailors Met the First Angelinos: Material Messages from forgotten Pimu, Santa Catalina Island

At the Museum | Fleischmann Auditorium

April 1, 2024 / 7:30 PM–9:00 PM

Presented by the Santa Barbara County Archaeological Society

This free public lecture by Pax Environmental Senior Archaeologist Austin Ringelstein, M.A., examines material culture from the island, representing early encounters between Indigenous inhabitants and early explorers. A clearer picture emerges of the island’s role in trade, ceremony, and place of refuge.

Please note that this archaeology talk takes place at the Museum in the Courtyard Gallery (currently showing Images of Infinity).
