The 2012 ArtWalk Indoor Show features Marcia Burtt, Chris Chapman, Jeremy Harper, Larry Iwerks, John Iwerks, Ann Sanders, and Skip Smith of The Oak Group, and more than 100 juried works of art by various artists curated by Diane Waterhouse.
The Oak Group has established itself beyond a group of artists. What started out as a handful of friends has grown to be a powerful philanthropic organization whose mission is to raise public awareness of endangered landscapes in and around Santa Barbara County. The Oak Group has 23 active members and has helped preserve in fact, as well as on canvas, numerous tracts of land in Santa Barbara and Marin Counties. Painting sales have totaled nearly $1.5 million, half of which has been donated to groups such as the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, The Nature Conservancy, The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County, and The Marin Agricultural Land Trust. A number of other plein air groups have patterned themselves on The Oak Group in recent years as both landscape art and the conservation movements have inspired popular interest.
