California Beetle Species Pages

These species pages contain images, natural history information, and distributional data for many California beetles, drawing on the information stored in the project database, as well as information from other published sources. The list below includes many common species, those which frequently draw attention, as well as some very uncommon species, which deserve recognition for their rarity, uniqueness, or simply for their beauty.

The pages here represent the tip of California's coleopterous iceberg. Many thousands of these pages have yet to be written, and we would welcome contributions from aspiring natural history writers. Interested in lending a hand? Email us!
