Dr. Alexey Tishechkin recently joined the the staff of SBMNH to work on the NSF-funded Revisionary Systematics of New World Exosternini with Dr. Michael Caterino. Alexey received his PhD at the Louisiana State University, and was part of the NSF-funded Beetle Taxonomy Working Group for the Great Smoky Mountains All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory for 2.5 subsequent years. His research interests are focused on taxonomy, systematics, evolution and biogeography of beetles, family Histeridae in particular. He has been and is a participant of several programs studying local beetle faunas in temperate and tropical regions where he uses his taxonomic expertise to contribute to the understanding of beetle diversity patterns at different scales.
