A DAY (OR THREE) IN THE FIELD WITH TOM DIBBLEE

On Santa Cruz Island

Friday, June 21 thru Sunday, June 23, 2002

The Dibblee Geological Foundation and the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum invite you to participate in a rare opportunity to visit Santa Cruz Island with living-legend Tom Dibblee, along with Santa Cruz researcher Peter Weigand and new Dibblee Map Editor John Minch. Tom and John's two new Santa Cruz Island maps by will be available and will be featured. There is dramatic geology for every interest.

Proceeds from this trip will benefit the Dibblee Geological Foundation; a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the preservation and publication of Tom Dibblee’s extensive geologic mapping of California. Spend a special weekend in the field with Tom and enjoy the beauty of Santa Cruz Island that evokes a feeling of 18th-century California.

Fee: $600 (includes boat transportation, lodging at the well appointed UCSB Field Station, 4-wheel-drive transportation on the island, food prepared by Bill Harz & Associates, and guidebook). Registration deadline is June 1st. Because of limited capacity of island vehicles, only 25 people will be able to participate in the remote field activities. For a slightly reduced fee of $500, others who wish to participate but do not travel into the field by vehicles are welcome.
