
What is T.E.E.N?
T.E.E.N is a science work-study program for teens ages 13-18. Students will work closely with educators and scientists to learn about the natural world, including areas like conservation, zoology, astronomy, marine biology, and anthropology. Students will also learn important life skills such as public speaking, computer competency, resume writing, and leadership.
After completing 60 hours of community service, students may qualify to become paid staff members, working with Museum and Zoo scientists and professionals in departments of their choice.
As a student in T.E.E.N, students will:
Get outside - camping, hiking and kayaking, visit Santa Cruz Island and even San Francisco or San Diego!
Participate in hands-on workshops on astronomy, paleontology, zoology, and more!
Learn important info for college!
Explore careers in science!
Make tons of friends!
Have lots of fun!
T.E.E.N is a Four year commitment to fun!
Summer Commitment
Minimum of 10 hours per week (through all four years of high school)
Summer 2008 commitment: June 16 - August
School Year Commitment
Minimum of 12 hours per month (through all four years of high school)
September - June 2008

Students currently in 8th grade attending Santa Barbara School District schools are eligible.
Interested students must completely fill out an application packet, including a letter of recommendation from a science teacher. Interviews will take place in May.
