The Past, Present, and Future of Rising Sea Levels
with Dr. Brian Fagan
Thursday, July 11
Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History - Farrand Hall
The Attacking Ocean, by UC Santa Barbara Emeritus Professor of Anthropology and author Brian Fagan, tells a tale of the rising complexity between humans and the sea at their doorsteps.
Embark on a fascinating journey through more than 11,000 years of
encroaching ocean waters and learn about their effects on societies simple
and complex, ancient and modern. Dr. Fagan explores the impact of great
sea surges on today's overpopulated and highly urbanized world, the plight
of arctic villages and small islands, and looks at some of the options in front
of us as we defend ourselves against the attacking ocean.
Copies of the book, The Attacking Ocean will be on sale after the presentation.
Members: $8; Non-Members $10
