Spider
Hello!
Can you tell what type of spider this is? It's wrapping up a honey bee.
Thanks!
Curator Response
Hi Kevin,
This is a Banded Garden Spider, Argiope trifasciata. Native to North, Central and South America, they have been accidentally introduced around the world. They are harmless to people, and feed on a wide variety of insects.
Sincerely,
Schlinger Chair of Entomology Alex Harman, Ph.D.
