Museum and Sea Center Closed

April 16, 2020 / 12:00 AM

We have made the difficult decision to close the Museum and Sea Center from Saturday, March 14 through Thursday, April 30. The health and safety of our community is the most important factor in this decision.

On March 12, the Santa Barbara County of Public Health issued a press release stating, "There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Santa Barbara County at this time. In order to protect the health of our community, the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department has issued a declaration of a local health emergency and health officer order for the postponement and cancellation of events...as well as social distancing measures. The guidelines to be implemented are in direct alignment with California Department of Public Health’s most recent guidelines issued today regarding social distancing and public gatherings."

The Museum and Sea Center's spring camps, as well as all events in March, have also been canceled. We will be in touch to issue refunds as necessary.

We are continuing to support our staff so that no one suffers from a financial burden due to this closure. This is a time for the community to assist each other and do all they can to safeguard everyone's health and well-being.

We thank you for your support of the Museum and Sea Center and hope to be able to see you soon. We’ll miss seeing you at our campuses and invite you to stay in touch via Facebook and Instagram, where we’ll continue to share information about the natural world and specimens from behind the scenes in our collections.
