SB Museum of Natural History Launches Summer Camps at Home

The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History has recently opened summer camp registration for children ages 4–9 to participate with their families at home. Five-day camps run from June 22 to July 10 and may continue throughout summer.

Given the uncertainty of stay at home orders and social distancing this summer, the Museum and Sea Center decided to get creative and create a new version of their signature Nature Adventures™ camps. The new format combines hands-on science activities with live, interactive, and engaging instruction from trained counselors via Zoom for up to 15 campers per session. Campers also receive a Camp Kit including materials, supplies, and a Nature Adventures t-shirt.

Camp themes include bugs, astronomy, marine life, dinosaurs, endangered animals, and wizarding science.

Nature Adventures Camps Manager Tyrena Chin, Ph.D. shared, “I often hear from parents ‘I wish I had camps like this when I was a kid!’ Well, now you can experience Nature Adventures at Home along with your child. Learn about science and nature in the safety of your own habitat!”

For more information about how these camps will run, cost, benefits to campers and families, and how to register, visit sbnature.org/natureadventures.

Full and partial scholarship opportunities are available.
