Science Pub: Sensitive Amphibians of California

It’s not easy being amphibious: habitat loss and pollution have put amphibians at risk worldwide. Join us to learn about two notable California species facing threats to survival. Wildlife biologist Vince Semonsen will share natural history and survey stories about the California Red-legged Frog (our state amphibian) and the locally endemic California Tiger Salamander.
Semonsen worked with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service studying Black-footed Ferrets in Wyoming and Clapper Rails along the Colorado River before settling in Santa Barbara. In over 35 years of experience as a biological consultant and environmental monitor, he’s participated in numerous sensitive species surveys, restoration and management plans, and monitoring and compliance to protect vulnerable species.
