Volunteer Open House

At the Museum | Farrand Auditorium

Want to share your interests in nature and science? This is the place for you! Meet and mingle with staff and volunteers and enjoy light refreshments as you learn about volunteer opportunities at the Museum and Sea Center. All are welcome.

Come learn how you could make a difference in these roles:

• Sea Center exhibit interpreter – Helps guests interact with live animals and demonstrates scientific sampling tools. Open to ages 11 and up, with 5-month minimum commitment. It’s a great way to learn about local marine life.  
• Museum exhibit interpreter – Provides a welcoming and educational environment for guests of all ages. Open to ages 18 and up, with 5-month minimum commitment. Excellent opportunity for college students seeking environmental education experience. 
• Museum educator – Supports K–12th grade school programs designed to nurture children’s curiosity and connection to the natural world. Open to ages 18 and up, this requires a substantial, 9-month commitment to training and supporting programs. An outstanding path to lifelong learning and staying active. 

Committed volunteers enjoy perks like field trips and special opportunities to learn from professionals in science and conservation—including curators and marine biologists. Staff provide the training you need to succeed. No prior experience is necessary; bilingual English/Spanish skills are a big plus in serving diverse audiences.
