iNat Together Community Bioblitz
At the Museum | Backyard
Become a scientist for the day! Explore the Museum grounds alongside fellow nature enthusiasts while photographing and documenting as many species as possible. Come see how much life is hiding in plain sight at the Museum—plants, insects, birds, mammals, reptiles, fungi, and more—and contribute to science as you discover.
Outdoor Educators and iNaturalist Ambassadors Megan Vega and Delaney Pineda will guide you through the process of using the world’s most powerful community science tool, no prior experience required. Meet iNaturalist Curator Bennett Grappone, M.S., and learn how he uses observations collected by the community to better understand biodiversity, track species, monitor changes in ecosystems, and make new discoveries.
All ages are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. Included with Museum admission (free for Members), no additional RSVP or registration required. Bring a smartphone, pack lunch or snacks to sustain you, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Download the iNaturalist app before arrival. The video below shows how easy it is to get started. For children under 13, Seek by iNaturalist is a great alternative choice.
