Chumash Basketry: Art & Life Reopens in Auditorium

At The Museum | Fleischmann Auditorium

December 21, 2026 / 10:00 AM–5:00 PM

December 21 will be the first day to see Chumash Basketry: Art & Life reopened in Fleischmann Auditorium. This is a homecoming to a space that has hosted exhibits featuring Native American cultures since 1938, the year after the auditorium first opened. We’re excited to return exhibits about people and living cultures to the central space where we come together as a community, and the home of the historic tomol (Chumash plank canoe) known as the Helek.

This exhibition is included with Museum admission, Members are always free. This exhibit space is ADA accessible; visit our accessibility page for more information.
