Online Workshop: Art Meets Science – Block Printing Botanicals

At Zoom

May 1, 2021 / 11:00 AM–12:15 PM

Join Maximus Gallery Curator Linda Miller as she gives a sneak peek into our summer exhibit, A Medicine to the Mind, which traces the four-hundred-year-old history of illustrated gardening catalogs. Learn about Tulipmania, the craze for tulips in seventeenth-century Holland. Then follow along with artist Hilary George to learn how to block print your own botanical print.

In each class in the Art Meets Science series, we brush up on some cool science and then introduce new art media and techniques with a fun interactive workshop. Expand your art skills and science knowledge from the comfort of your own home. Pick up your supplies at the Museum or have them shipped locally.

For local pickup: Register by April 30, pick up by 10:30 AM on May 1.

For local shipping: Register by April 24.

Supplies provided: lino cutter, rubber block, ink, sponge brushes, two blank stationery cards, tea towel, tracing paper, pencil, and washi tape.
