Science Pub: Effects of Introduced Trout on Lakeside Pollination

At Dargan's Irish Pub & Restaurant, 18 E. Ortega Street

May 8, 2023 / 6:30 PM–8:00 PM

Trout introduction was a common California practice in the 1800s for recreation and game-fishing. Today, researchers increasingly see impacts on native aquatic food webs and ecosystem structure. However, the impacts of trout are far-reaching and extend beyond the lake edge. Join UCSB Ph.D. candidate Michelle Lee to explore potential cascading impacts of introduced trout in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range on lakeside plant and pollinator communities. The results may surprise you!

Join our fun and friendly conversation and quench your thirst for knowledge about science and nature in this ongoing series of free science talks held on the second Monday of every month.
