Star Party

At the Museum

October 10, 2026 / 8:00 PM–10:00 PM

The Palmer Observatory will open its doors and its roof to share a remarkable view of the wonders of the night sky through our state-of-the-art 20-inch telescope. Join Museum Astronomy Programs staff and members of the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit for an evening of craters on the Moon, nebulae, galaxies, and more.

This recurring monthly event is free and appropriate for all audiences. No tickets or registration required. The Star Party may be canceled due to cloudy skies or rain. Star Parties always end at 10:00 PM, but start at different times throughout the year. Please check the event start time and don’t arrive before it. Earlier dusk in winter enables earlier start times (great for kids). All year long, the final hour of a party usually offers a quieter and more intimate experience for those who can stay up late.
