Celebrate National Earth Science Week with fun, all-ages activities included with Museum admission! Meet Dibblee Curator of Earth Science Jonathan Hoffman, Ph.D., and other staff members who work with rocks and fossils at the Museum. Saturday, October 11
Help us celebrate the birthday of legendary Californian cartographer Tom Dibblee. Color your own geologic map of Santa Barbara and help assemble a geologic map puzzle. Don’t be late if you want a slice of cake! Feel free to bring a card or photo to add to our tribute board.

Mineral Day
Monday, October 13
Meet representatives of local mineral clubs and view displays of their collections. Experience the Museum’s mineral exhibits and check out Dr. Hoffman’s personal collection of rocks and fossils.

Earth Observation Day
Tuesday, October 14
Join us at the Museum’s Palmer Observatory for solar viewing (weather permitting) and activities highlighting what astronomy teaches us about the history and future of planet Earth.

National Fossil Day
Wednesday, October 15
See fossil preparators work on real specimens from the Museum’s collections! Learn about how fossils are formed and studied.

Geologic Map Day
Friday, October 17
Learn about geologic and topographic maps. Color your own geologic map and help assemble a geologic map puzzle.
